Best onsen towns from Haneda

Atami is the quickest: Keikyu to Shinagawa, then the Tokaido Shinkansen. Hakone is reached via the Shinkansen to Odawara and the Hakone Tozan railway. Ito adds the JR Ito line from Atami.

Tips for a jet-lagged first night

Check your arrival time against the inn's check-in and dinner times: many ryokan serve dinner early and some have a latest check-in time. If you land in the evening, choose a property near the station or a room-only plan. A private bath is ideal after a long flight: no queues, no rules to learn at midnight, and a room with its own bath means you can soak whenever jet lag wakes you.

A first or last night near Haneda

If you land in the afternoon, a hot spring the same evening is realistic: Atami and Hakone are both reachable before dinner on most days if you leave the airport promptly. On the way home, a night in Atami or Hakone followed by a morning train back to Shinagawa keeps the last day relaxed, but leave a buffer for weekend traffic and delays.
