Arima is known for two kinds of water: the rust-coloured, iron-rich Kinsen (gold spring) and the clear Ginsen (silver spring). Some inns pipe in both. The old town is a tangle of narrow lanes with public baths, sweet shops and sake breweries.

Being so close to the Kansai cities, Arima has plenty of high-end ryokan with in-room baths, and private family baths at many mid-range inns.
